Here are some basic guidelines for posting on Umbra; we want to make sure everyone has a good time here and we need everyone to understand and follow these rules.
1. No one under the age of 18 may join or participate on Umbra.
2. No godmoding.
3. Confirm any story lines with characters and make sure you PLAN with other people.
4. READ before you post.
Suggested posting techniques:
A proper post should have the following components (parts):
- the beginning of the post should be a physical and/or mental reaction to what was said/done in the previous post,
- that should be followed by a bit of a dialog and more physical description,
- put your character's thoughts into the post, they can be in the form of a question,
- use third person singular and past tenses i.e.
Joe went inside a bar and looked around. CORRECT
I walk inside a bar and look around. INCORRECT
- use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation; if you suck at it, use a word editor like WORD first with a spell-checker and then copy,
- use lots of adjectives and adverbs to make your post more interesting,
- if you can, try and have characters use accents,
- use NPC characters from the Umbra list of names OR should you REALLY need and create a new one, inform the admin so that the name can be added. You will find the link here:

- research before you post when responding to a particular topic, learn about it before you just make something up,
- make sure your post is at least 250 word long.
